Release of Murad Code Rights Tool for Survivors: 10 Important Things to Remember Before, During and After an In-Person Interview
The Institute for International Criminal Investigations (IICI) is pleased to announce the publication of 10 Important Things to Remember Before, During and After an In-Person Interview, a new rights tool for survivors of systematic and conflict-related sexual violence (SCRSV).
If you're a survivor of sexual violence, before you agree to an interview—whether with an investigator, researcher, journalist, or other practitioner documenting SCRSV—you deserve to know what to expect from the process and what you can ask for.
Developed in consultation with survivors and drawing on the Global Code of Conduct for Gathering and Using Information about SCRSV (the "Murad Code"), this tool is designed for survivors to:
Help you understand your options throughout the interview process
Provide questions to ask interviewers before, during and after you speak to them
Enable you to assess whether those seeking your information will respect you and your rights
The tool is available in English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Bosnian, Nepali, Swahili and Ukrainian.
